Winemaker’s Notes

The 2021 Meteor Cabernet is the finest Cabernet we have produced since we conceived this intimate, focused project in 2014. In fact, after growing and producing Cabernet in Napa as a winemaker/consultant since 1999, this is my favorite Napa Valley wine I’ve ever bottled. The wine has everything I’m looking for in a complex, modern cool climate Cabernet - explosive aromatics, great intensity and energy, a deep core of dark fruit, savory mineral detail, and a rising vibrant finish built upon tannins of equal finesse and power. The wine is the epitome of intensity and concentration with zero sense of heaviness. Harvested quite early, at moderate ripeness, the beauty of this pedigreed vineyard is front and center.

Rising perfumed aromas of lilac and crushed stone. Inky blue and black fruits, black tea, and sweet tobacco. The palate is lithe, lively and long with vivid, jet-black fruits at its core. A vein of gravelly minerals permeates the entire length of the wine - sleek, focused and intense. Tannins are deep and layered and drive the wine forward to a finish of licorice and incense. A wine of incredible purity and poise. Drink between 2024 and 2036 and decant for an hour+ before serving.
