Winemaker’s Notes

Many of you know Chenin Blanc from its home along the Loire River and the famous wines of Vouvray, Savennières and — my favorite — Saumur. The varietal also has a long history in post-prohibition California when it was the most important white variety. Our version, planted on sandy soils in a cool site, is fresh and intense with deep ripe apple fruit, a lick of honey and vibrant mineral acidity. I absolutely love it. And, it drinks beautifully the following day from a partial bottle. We fermented and aged this wine in neutral French oak hogshead barrels for 16 months prior to bottling.

Drink on release or age up to five years.
