Spring Release Wildrose Estate Pinot Noir
2018

Winemaker’s Notes

Wildrose was the first vineyard we planted in 1999. This tiny “secret garden” vineyard is our sentimental favorite, an integral part of the DuMOL story since close to the beginning. Now that we lease the vines, quality is at an all-time high. We are fortunate that the sheer brilliance of the 2018 vintage has elevated Wildrose to another level of quality and complexity.

There’s kaleidoscopic, grand-scale complexity on display here. Fruit, texture and structure are in near-perfect integration. Utterly beautiful aromas of black raspberry, cassis and black cherry frame dried tobacco leaf, rosehip and orange zest. Red and black fruits flow seamlessly through the mid-palate. Nuances of clove, sandalwood, blood orange and cedar add detail. Fruit and savory elements meld on the harmonious finish as vibrant acidity and round tannins allow the flavors to linger endlessly with a delicate floral lift.

This wine has the potential to develop for many years—10 to 15 will be no problem—but like all great wines, it can be enjoyed soon after release for all its youthful exuberance and sheer pleasure.

Open your first bottles in late 2020.
